It has been reported that the air force of Canada is working on a secret mission, in which the mini-shuttles will be used. The mini-shuttles were created for the Air Force. However, till now, they have flown in the space just once. As part of the secret mission, the first flight was launched on the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and the other one is scheduled to be launched in the month of October. The mini shuttle was first launched in 2010. It has been informed that in the month of October the Air Force’s mysterious X-37B space plane will be launched. The mini shuttle will blast into space from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Air Force Spokesperson, Major Tracy Bunko said, “Preparations for launch at Cape Canaveral have begun”. It has come to light that about four months ago, the X-37B space plane returned from its secret mission after spending 469 days in orbit. It is hoped that this time as well the space plane will land safely back to the Earth. ...

A team of astronomers at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory has done something never ever done before, despite many big achievements, a recent report has revealed. While in 1781, Charles Messier had discovered a galaxy dubbed M87, though not sure if it was a galaxy. It is being said that the team has measured the radius of the black hole at the center of the galaxy. The radius of the supermassive hole was measured with the help of the Event Horizon Telescope, the report finds. It has been told that the same was initially taken by the team so as to observe the M87 galaxy. It is being said that the black hole is some 6 billion times massive as compared to the Sun. As per the findings, the telescope is a chain of different radio telescopes in California, Arizona and Hawaii. However, a picture of jets that were ejected from M87's black hole was captured by the telescope previously also. The same has this time helped in identifying that the black hole is 50 million light...

MERCURY The mean distance of Mercury from Sun is 58 x 106 kms. Due to its closeness with Sun, it is difficult to be observed with naked eye. It travels at a speed of 48 km per second. Its mass is 0.054 times that of earth’s mass, diameter is 4868 kms and density 5.2 gms per cubic cms. Its sidereal time is 87.969 earth days. It has no satellite. It does not go beyond 280 from Sun. Hindus regard Mercury as God Keshav, Narayan, Madhav etc. In other words it represents protective agency. It is a prince in planetary cabinet. So like a child it does not act independently and borrows the characteristics of the planet with which it is associated. Its chief domain is over mind, memory, intellect, intelligence, perception, knowledge, reason, fertility of resources, commerce and education, powers of speech and writing, ability for editing, art of painting and sculpture. It gives the person ready wit, an easy acquisition and command over many languages, taste for and competence in phil...

For decades, the Atlantic Ocean’s fabled Bermuda Triangle has captured the human imagination with unexplained disappearances of ships, planes, and people. Some speculate that unknown and mysterious forces account for the unexplained disappearances, such as extraterrestrials capturing humans for study; the influence of the lost continent of  Atlantis ; vortices that suck objects into other dimensions; and other whimsical ideas.  Some explanations are more grounded in science, if not in evidence.  These include oceanic flatulence (methane gas erupting from ocean sediments) and disruptions in geomagnetic lines of flux. Environmental considerations could explain many, if not most, of the disappearances.  The majority of Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes pass through the Bermuda Triangle, and in the days prior to improved weather forecasting, these dangerous storms claimed many ships.  Also, the  Gulf Stream  can cause rapid, sometimes viole...

London:   There are probably no aliens out there - meaning we are entirely alone in the universe, said an astronomer. Even though there may many earth like planets, their existing conditions are likely to be too hostile to support life-forms such as extra terrestrials (ET), according to him. Howard Smith, senior astrophysicist at Harvard University, believes there is very little hope of discovering aliens and, even if we did, it would be almost impossible to make contact. So far astronomers have discovered a total of 500 planets in distant solar systems - known as extrasolar systems - although they believe billions of others exist, the Daily Mail reported. But Smith pointed out that many of these planets are either too close to their sun or too far away, meaning their surface temperatures are too extreme to support life. Others have unusual orbits which cause vast temperature variations, making it impossible for water to exist as a liquid - an essential element for...

Whether he's teaching class, socializing at a cocktail party or talking to visitors at the planetarium where he works, Charles Liu knows that sooner or later he's going to get asked at least one of three questions: Is there a God? Are there aliens? What would happen if I fell into a black hole? "I've never been in a public environment where people know what I do where at least one of these questions was not asked," Liu said. He is an astrophysics professor at the City University of New York's College of Staten Island and an associate at the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History. Over the years, Liu has developed some pretty solid answers, based on scientific evidence and his own opinion, to those three burning questions. Here's what he told us. Is there a God?  "What I tell people is that science in general and astronomy in particular do not address the question of whether or not there is a God. In science, concl...

Earth – Overview Earth, our home, is the third planet from the sun. It is the  only planet  known to have an atmosphere containing free oxygen, oceans of liquid water on its surface, and, of course, life. Earth is the fifth largest of the planets in the solar system — smaller than the four gas giants,  Jupiter ,  Saturn , Uranus  and  Neptune , but larger than the three other rocky planets,  Mercury ,  Mars  and  Venus . Earth has a diameter of roughly 8,000 miles (13,000 kilometers), and is round because  gravity pulls matter into a ball , although it is not perfectly round, instead being more of an "oblate spheroid" whose spin causes it to be squashed at its poles and swollen at the equator. Roughly 71 percent of Earth's surface is  covered by water , most of it in the oceans. About a fifth of its atmosphere is made up of oxygen, produced by plants. While scientists have been studying our planet for centuries, much has...
